the Painter Amy Chan - A Chinese porcelain painter who was born and is living in Hong Kong with her husband and son. She loves all kinds of painting. She spent a few years learning Oil and Water color painting with an Australian teacher - Annlise Howes. At the same time, she also took lessons of Chinese Brush Painting with a Chinese teacher - Grace Chan. About ten years ago, she was being introduced to the wonderful art of Porcelain Painting and then she fell in love with it at once. She started taking lessons in Hong Kong with her teacher Rosemary, who is a Malaysian lady. In order to keep up and to learn more painting techniques, she attended the seminar given by the following artists :- 1999 Francoise Groves-de-Milleret from France for portrait painting . 2000 Rumi Agawa from Japan for Meissen painting. 2001 Josephine Robinson from Australia for painting on canvas and general techniques. 2001 Alzora Zaremba from USA for English Roses. 2002 David Bailey from England for Enamel and Raised Paste work. 2003 Jan Kellaway from Australia for Multi-techniques. 2005 Josephine Robinson from Australia for Glass Lamp painting. 2005 Andrew Orr from States for Delphinium.
In May, 2000, Amy and her teacher, Rosemary and a group of ladies in the painting group held their first Porcelain Painting Exhibition in Kwang Hwa Information & Culture Center in Hong Kong. The exhibition was a success. It brought a lot of people to come and enjoy this wonderful fine art and the exhibition itself also held the charity purpose of raising fund for the Children Heart Foundation. In June, 2000, Amy was invited by Hong Kong TVB to introduce and demonstrate porcelain painting in one of their educational programme on TV and was broadcasted to most of the countries over the world. Amy is now an experienced teacher. She is teaching classes in her own workshop. She has been teaching in Y.W.C.A, GSIS and is doing workshops in some local art schools and private clubs . She is also a patient teacher that teaches the kids group age from 9 to 16 during the last few summer holidays. Amy is the member of the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc., The British Porcelain Artist & Westfield House, Australian Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc., and The Hong Kong Porcelain Painting Club.
